Senior Tax Work Off Program

This program is paid for through Town funds out of the Board of Assessors account. Applications are available by calling or stopping in the Assessor's Office. The number there is 978-894-2760 and they are located at the Town Hall at 160 Patriots Road, East Templeton in Room 4. Once you complete your application with Luanne or Sue in the Assessor's Office, it needs to be approved and then it is sent to Holly in the Select Board Office. Holly will set up an appointment with you to come in and begin your forms to be hired for the temporary position that you will work. The rate paid is the current minimum wage. Once forms are completed with Holly, the accounting department will contact you to complete payroll forms and ethics training. Then we will have you start in the department that needs you to work. The department head will set up a schedule with you to complete your hours that total $500. They will track your time and submit that to the Assessor's Office for approval at which time accounting will submit through payroll and once the check arrives (minus payroll taxes) you will need to come in and sign over the check to the Town so it may then be credited to your tax bill.
