A notice from our Development Services Director:

Massachusetts has had a confirmed case of High Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in the Berkshires, there have been no reported cases in our area. If you raise poultry, it is highly recommended that you do everything you can to keep your poultry away from wild birds in order to minimize the possibility of HPAI spread. As always, it is a safe practice to cook both poultry and eggs to an internal temperature of 165°. For more information about HPAI, please visit the following links for the CDC, USDA and MDPH:
