The Town Administrator serves at the pleasure of the Board of Selectmen, which appoints him/her, as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Town. He/she is charged with supervising the daily operations of the organization within the framework of policies adopted by the Board, our local By-Laws, and statute in a wide variety of matters. In addition to being Chief Administrative Officer, the Town Administrator functions as the Human Resources Director with respect to personnel, the Finance Director with respect to financial matters, and the Procurement Officer with respect to purchasing. The Administrator provides a wide range of support to the Board, researching items of interest and preparing reports on matters of general importance to the organization in general, and the Board in particular, which often form the basis of policies adopted by the Board and warrant articles presented to the Town Meeting. He/she also represents the Town at various functions and organizations such as, most importantly, our efforts to improve transportation opportunities for our citizens.
