9.11 Rock Tribute

9.11 Rock Tribute

Remarks by Jackie Prime, Community Services Director

I am sharing a 9/11 memorial that was created and placed on the library grounds on Sunday. This project was the work of 9th grade Templeton resident, Kelly Taylor. Kelly is a remarkable young woman, whom I've known since she was a toddler in our library's Pre-School Story Hour. Kelly embodies a sense of civic responsibility and integrity that is remarkable in someone so young.

Kelly was selected for 'Project 351' , an organization that chooses 1 eighth grade student from each town in Massachusetts to complete a service project. Kelly's idea was to create a 9/11 Tribute rock garden, with stones painted with the names of individuals who lost their lives in the tragic events of 9/11/2001.

The memorial will remain in place on the library grounds though the end of this week. I would ask that this notification be forwarded to the Select Board members, as well as being posted on the main page of the town's website. I will be sharing it on the library's presence of www.templetonma.gov.

Kelly's tribute includes a illuminated flag and the hand-painted stones in the shape of an American flag.

Thank you in advance for sharing my admiration of this young lady and her special project.
