Senior Community Center Roof ~ Project Highlight

Roof project

This is the second highlight of another project that the Town of Templeton has completed.  This time we would like to highlight the Senior Community Center roof project which was completed in 2023.  The project was able to move forward when it was approved at the May 11, 2022 Annual Town Meeting under Article 26.  The Senior Services staff as well as our Building & Grounds staff don't have to worry about a leaking roof any longer as the Templeton Select Board and Town Administrator advocated for this project to get done.

Architect Andrew J. Cannata, AIA provided us a brief description of the work:

This project involved the removal of the entire 5,160 square foot existing roofing system consisting of an EPDM aka rubber membrane, underlayments, sheathing boards and batt insulation between the existing wood rafters.  The roof had been failing for many years and had numerous leaks, all caused by the use of improper batt-type insulation and it's placement on the incorrect side of the sheathing.  The new work included the installation of new Zip System sheathing panels onto which rigid polyisocyanurate insulation was installed covered by a 60 mil EPDM aka rubber roofing membrane.

We would like to thank the Templeton residents for supporting these town projects and initiatives especially to those who made the effort and showed up to our Town Meetings.

Stay tuned for our next project highlight!
