Municipal Lien Certificates

When requesting MLC's, please be mindful that we do not have a UPS or FedEx facility or drop-box near us. If you choose to use UPS or FedEx, we cannot guarantee that your MLC will be picked up by them in a timely manner.

If you request an MLC from the Town, please include the following information:

  • A check made payable to the Town of Templeton in the amount of $50.00 per parcel.
  • Please be aware that many residences are made up of two or more parcels. More than one MLC may need to be requested.
  • A self-addressed, stamped envelope. (MLC's are not faxed or emailed)
  • Record owner.
  • Property address.
  • Parcel identification.

By Massachusetts law, we have 10 business days from the time the request is received in the office to generate the MLC. Every attempt is made to shorten that turnaround time, but during vacation and holiday times, or other busy times of the year, it may take the full 10 days allowed to process your request.

We cannot supply final readings for Light, Water or Sewer, please call them directly.

Please do not wait until the last minute to request your municipal lien certificate.
